This house is designed to be very energy efficient and has a photo voltaic array on the garage roof that will hopefully harvest as much electricity from the sun as the building requires for normal operation. The building is placed along the south facing slope, with overhang protected windows, to take advantage passive solar heating. The construction is very well insulated and has a high efficiency HVAC system.
